The 6 fees

What fees does Etsy charge sellers?

Which ones actually apply depends on your shop's country.

Transaction fee
6.5% of price + shipping, before VAT — the same rate everywhere Etsy operates.
Payment processing fee
A percentage plus a flat fee, set by your country, on the full amount the buyer pays, VAT included.
Listing fee
0.20 USD nominal, converted to your currency, charged again only on renewal.
VAT on Etsy's fees
EU and UK only — added on top of Etsy's own fees unless you're VAT-registered.
Offsite Ads
12–15%, only when a buyer clicked an Etsy ad within 30 days. Not included in this calculator.
Regulatory Operating Fee
A small percentage, only in specific countries — not Poland, not the US.
How it works

From price to profit

Transaction fee

6.5% of your item price plus shipping — calculated before VAT, same rate everywhere. A 3.50 EUR sale has a transaction fee of 0.23 EUR (see the Poland example below).

VAT on Etsy's fees

In the EU and UK, Etsy adds VAT on top of its own fees at your country's standard rate, unless you're VAT-registered. The US has no VAT system — none of this applies there.

What you keep

Price + shipping, minus every fee and its VAT, minus what the item cost you to make. Try it in the calculator above, or see it for every real sale with a CraftKept trial.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is this calculator free?
Yes — it's a free tool with no sign-up required. CraftKept, the paid product it's part of, imports your real Etsy statement and calculates every sale automatically.
Does Etsy charge VAT on its fees?
In the EU and UK, yes — Etsy adds VAT on top of its transaction, payment processing and listing fees, at your country's standard rate, unless you've given Etsy a VAT number. The US has no VAT system, so this doesn't apply there.
What's the difference between the transaction fee and the payment processing fee?
The transaction fee is 6.5% of your price and shipping, before VAT. The payment processing fee is a separate percentage plus a flat fee, set by your country, calculated on the full amount the buyer pays — including VAT.
Are Etsy fees the same in every country?
No. The payment processing fee, VAT on fees, and whether a Regulatory Operating Fee applies all vary by the seller's country — this calculator models each enabled country separately rather than using one global rate.
Does this calculator include Offsite Ads fees?
No. Offsite Ads (12–15%) only applies when a buyer clicks an Etsy ad within 30 days of buying, which this calculator has no way to know for a hypothetical sale, so it's left out rather than guessed.
How accurate is this calculator?
Every rate it uses is checked against an official Etsy source or a real Etsy order, with the verification date shown under your result. It's an estimate for one sale, not a guarantee — real fees also depend on factors like Offsite Ads, refunds and coupons.
Can I see this for all my real sales, not just one?
That's what CraftKept, the full product, does — upload your actual Etsy Payments CSV and it calculates real profit for every order automatically, with your product costs factored in.

Etsy fees in the United States

US-based Etsy sellers pay a 6.5% transaction fee on the item price and shipping, plus a payment processing fee of 3% + 0.25 USD on the full amount the buyer pays. The listing fee is 0.20 USD. The US has no VAT system, so there's no VAT added to Etsy's fees, and the US isn't on Etsy's Regulatory Operating Fee list.

Rates verified October 27, 2026. See sources.

Etsy fees in the United Kingdom

UK-based sellers pay the same 6.5% transaction fee, plus a payment processing fee of 4% + 0.20 GBP. Etsy adds VAT at 20% on top of its own fees (transaction, processing and listing) unless you've given Etsy a VAT number. The UK is also one of the countries Etsy charges a Regulatory Operating Fee in, currently 0.48% of the order total.

Etsy fees in the European Union

The EU isn't one fee table — each member state has its own VAT-on-fees rate, and only some of them have a Regulatory Operating Fee at all. The table below covers every EU country this calculator currently supports (plus Poland, with its own dedicated section further down).

Etsy fees in Poland

Poland-based sellers pay a 6.5% transaction fee, a payment processing fee of 4% + 0.30 EUR, and 23% VAT on top of Etsy's own fees (Poland's standard VAT rate) unless registered for VAT. Poland isn't on Etsy's Regulatory Operating Fee list.

Worked example — a real 3.50 EUR sale
  1. Item price, before VAT: 3.50 EUR
  2. Buyer pays 23% VAT: +0.81 EUR → buyer pays 4.31 EUR total
  3. Transaction fee (6.5%): 0.23 EUR, plus 0.05 EUR VAT on that fee
  4. Payment processing fee (4% + 0.30 EUR): 0.47 EUR, plus 0.11 EUR VAT on that fee
After transaction, processing and VAT on fees: 2.64 EUR — if the listing doesn't renew on this sale.
After the listing renewal Etsy charges when a listing sells (0.22 EUR with VAT): 2.42 EUR — what the calculator above shows by default.
No shipping on this particular sale — try it with your own numbers in the calculator above.

One real sale

From price to profit: a worked example

One 30.00 USD sale with free shipping, US seller. The table below comes from the same engine as the calculator, with your costs added.

LineAmount
Buyer pays30.00 USD
Listing fee-0.20 USD
Transaction fee (6.5%)-1.95 USD
Payment processing (3% + 0.25 USD)-1.15 USD
Etsy pays out26.70 USD
Materials and packaging-7.00 USD
Shipping label you bought-4.80 USD
Your profit14.90 USD (49.7%)

If the same order comes through an Offsite Ad, Etsy charges 15% of the sale amount if the buyer clicked an ad within the 30 days before buying (12% once your shop has reached $10,000 in sales within any 365 days, after which the program is mandatory for the lifetime of the shop), capped at $100 per order. On a 30.00 USD sale that is 4.50 USD, about a third of the profit in the example. The calculator above does not include Offsite Ads, so add them yourself if an order came from one.

This is an estimate for one sale, not tax advice.

Fee questions

Questions sellers ask about Etsy fees

How much does Etsy take from a 30.00 USD sale?
For a US seller with free shipping: a 0.20 USD listing fee, 1.95 USD transaction fee (6.5%) and 1.15 USD payment processing (3% + 0.25 USD), so 3.30 USD in total and a payout of 26.70 USD. Your profit depends on what the item cost you to make and ship.
Is the 6.5% transaction fee charged on shipping?
Yes. It applies to the item price, shipping charged to the buyer and gift wrap. Payment processing is charged on the full amount the buyer pays, including shipping and any taxes charged to the buyer.
Can I avoid the Offsite Ads fee?
If your shop has never reached $10,000 in sales within any 365 days, you can opt out in Shop Manager under Settings > Offsite Ads. Once it reaches that level, participation is required for the lifetime of the shop and the fee drops to 12%. It applies only to orders placed within 30 days of a buyer clicking an ad and is capped at $100 per order.
Do I get Etsy fees back if I refund an order?
According to Etsy's help pages, the transaction and payment processing fees are credited back when you refund through Etsy. The listing fee is credited only if you also cancel the order. (Source: Etsy Help, How to Issue a Full or Partial Refund For an Order.)
Why doesn't my Etsy payout match my bank deposit?
Deposits bundle several orders, hold back taxes Etsy remits for you and include fees from earlier days. If you sell in a currency different from your payment account, a currency conversion fee applies as well.
Does the calculator include VAT on Etsy's fees?
Yes, for countries where Etsy charges it. Pick your shop's country and the result lists VAT on each fee separately.
