Everything sellers usually ask before their first import.
How do I get started?
Three steps: 1) Import your Etsy Payments CSV on the Import CSV page. 2) Add your products and their costs on Products & COGS. 3) Link your transactions to those products, also on Products & COGS. Once that's done, your real profit shows up on the Dashboard, and you can export your data anytime from Tax Export.
What can I do on the Dashboard?
See your real profit (not just revenue) for any date range — a single month, a custom range, or a full year. It breaks fees down by category, ranks your products by profit (not sales), flags transactions that are missing a cost or were refunded, and lists every CSV you've imported.
What can I do on the Import CSV page?
Upload your Etsy Payments CSV to bring your orders and fees into CraftKept. Orders you've already imported are automatically skipped, so it's safe to re-upload overlapping files. You'll also see a history of every file you've imported.
What can I do on the Products & COGS page?
Add your products and enter what each one actually costs you to make (material, labor, packaging), set the currency you use for those costs, and link your imported transactions to the right product so your profit can be calculated.
What can I do on the Tax Export page?
Download your transaction data as a CSV or PDF for any date range you pick — every order, every fee broken out, your costs, and your net profit, plus monthly and overall totals. Hand it to your accountant or keep it for your own records.
What can I do on the Account page?
Update your shop name, country, payout currency and cost currency, and change your password. Use the avatar menu at the top of any page to manage or cancel your subscription.
Does "kept" include taxes?
No — "kept" is your revenue minus Etsy's fees and your product cost. It isn't tax advice; talk to an accountant for what you owe after that.
Which Etsy markets does CraftKept support?
Any country Etsy Payments settles in — we don't calculate fees from a rate table, we read the exact breakdown Etsy already put in your CSV. At signup you'll find the US, UK, Poland, Germany, France, Spain and Italy by name with your payout currency pre-filled; anywhere else, pick "Other" and set it yourself.
What exactly counts as a "fee" here?
Six categories: transaction fee, listing fee, payment processing, Offsite Ads, Regulatory Operating Fee (only in the countries where Etsy charges it), and a currency conversion fee (only when your listing currency differs from your payout currency). Each one gets its own column.
What if I change my shop's currency?
A single Etsy shop lists in one currency at a time, but if you ever switch it, older and newer orders can end up in different currencies within the same import. We never add those together into one blended number — your export breaks totals out per currency, and the Dashboard shows your payout currency by default with a note when other currencies exist too.
What currency should I enter my product costs in?
Whatever currency you actually spend in day-to-day — usually your own country's currency, not necessarily what Etsy pays you out in (they're often different). We suggest one automatically based on your country at signup, and you can change it anytime on your Account page.
My sales are in a different currency than my costs — how does that work?
You enter a product's cost once, in your own cost currency. When we calculate profit for an order in a different currency, we convert your cost using the real exchange rate from that order's exact date — sourced from the European Central Bank, not today's rate and not an estimate — so your profit reflects what the conversion actually would have been.
What if an exchange rate isn't available for an order?
We never guess or fall back to a 1:1 rate. If we can't find a real rate for that date and currency pair, that order's profit shows as unknown — the same way it would if you'd never entered a cost for that product — rather than showing you a number that might be wrong.
Can I change my cost currency later?
Yes, on your Account page — but changing it doesn't convert costs you've already entered, it just changes what currency they're read as from that point on. If you switch after already filling in product costs, double-check those numbers still make sense, or your profit could come out wrong.
What happens after my 30-day trial?
We start billing $4.99/month automatically. Cancel anytime before day 30 and you won't be charged.
What happens if I cancel, then come back later?
You keep full access until the period you already paid for ends — then the account locks until you resubscribe. Coming back after that charges $4.99 right away, with no second $1 trial — that's only for first-time sellers.
Is my sales data safe?
Your CSV is processed to compute fees and profit and stored only for your account. We never sell or share seller data.
Which file do I need to upload?
The "Payment Account CSV" export from Etsy Payments — not the order CSV. We show you exactly where to find it during import.
What if I accidentally import the same file twice?
No harm done — we match orders by their Etsy order number and automatically skip anything you've already imported, so nothing gets double-counted.
Can I look at more than just the current month?
Yes — the Dashboard has a From/To picker, so you can view a single month, a custom range spanning several months, or a full year, not just whatever month it currently is.
Can I export data for my accountant?
Yes — as a CSV or PDF, for any date range you pick (a single month, a custom range, or a full year), with transaction-level detail plus a monthly summary and one total for the whole range.
What happens if an order gets refunded?
It's reflected automatically — the fees and profit totals you see already account for it, and the Dashboard flags how many orders were refunded in the period you're looking at.
Does it work with multiple Etsy shops?
Each CraftKept account tracks one shop today. Support for multiple shops per account is on our roadmap.
